Tony’s Chocolonely story – short version

Tony’s Chocolonely is a company that sells 100% slave free chocolate. Almost 11 years ago the Dutch investigative reporter Teun (Tony) van de Keuken launched an investigation about the use of slavery within the cacoa industry. He was literally shocked to discover that most of the chocolate on supermarket shelves was harvested by slaves – worse, by child slaves. He decided to do something about it. This video shortly showcases the story behind Tony’s Chocolonely.

While traveling in Argentina in 2006, TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie witnessed the hardships faced by children growing up without shoes. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a new pair of shoes for a child in need. One for one.
What began as a simple idea has evolved into a powerful business model that helps address need and advance health, education and economic opportunity for children and their communities around the world.
Since 2006 there have been given over 60 million pairs of shoes to children in need. In the meantime the company also launched TOMS Eyewear (in 2011) for the gift of sight, TOMS Roasting Co. (in 2014) for clean water and TOMS Bag Collection (in 2015) for safer birth.
